01Your visit

Your child’s visit, step by step

  1. 0–10 min

    Hello and a little tour

Tell, show, do: we explain and show every tool first.

  2. 10–30 min

    A gentle cleaning and check

Counting teeth, checking how they’re coming in.

  3. 30–40 min

    Fluoride varnish

Painted on in seconds; tastes mild.

  4. 40–45 min

    A word with you

Tips for brushing at home and when to come back.

03Is it for you

From the first tooth to the teenage years

The American Dental Association suggests a first dental visit by a child’s first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits are short and friendly; they help children get used to the dental office before any treatment is needed.

Families often book back-to-back visits, so parents and children come on the same day.

04Cost and insurance

What it costs

$100–$200 checkup and cleaning

Typical range in the US without insurance (2026 consumer cost guides). Your own estimate comes after the exam, in writing, before anything is done.

Treatment such as a filling is planned and estimated separately, after we’ve talked it through with you.

Dental insurance
Most dental plans cover children’s checkups, cleanings, fluoride and often sealants. We check your plan first.
Monthly payments
Third-party financing such as CareCredit lets you spread the cost, if you’d like.
No insurance?
Ask about our membership plan: checkups, cleanings and X-rays for a yearly fee, plus a discount on treatment.

05How we work

Our clinical standards

The details that make a difference to how this treatment is done — and why we do them.

  • A first visit by age one

We follow the AAPD recommendation: a first checkup by the first birthday, then regular visits.

  • Tell, show, do

Before we do anything, we tell your child what it is, show it on a finger or a toy, and only then do it.

  • Parents welcome in the room

You can stay with your child for the whole visit.

  • Fluoride and sealants by risk

Preventive care is based on your child’s own risk of decay, explained to you in plain words.
