03Is it for you

Who needs a cleaning

Cleanings are part of routine care for adults and children, usually together with an exam. Hardened tartar can’t be brushed away at home — it needs professional instruments.

When you send a request, choose Cleaning and exam, and pick your hygienist if you like.

04Cost and insurance

What it costs

$100–$200 cleaning

Typical range in the US without insurance (2026 consumer cost guides). Your own estimate comes after the exam, in writing, before anything is done.

A routine cleaning is the most common visit. If your gums need a deeper cleaning below the gumline, we explain why and give you an estimate before starting.

Dental insurance
Most dental plans cover routine exams, cleanings and X-rays at or near 100% — we check yours before your visit.
Monthly payments
Third-party financing such as CareCredit lets you spread the cost, if you’d like.
No insurance?
Ask about our membership plan: checkups, cleanings and X-rays for a yearly fee, plus a discount on treatment.

05How we work

Our clinical standards

The details that make a difference to how this treatment is done — and why we do them.

  • The Guided Biofilm Therapy sequence

Disclose the plaque, show you where it is, lift it with warm air polishing, and use instruments only where tartar is left.

  • Gums checked, not just teeth

Your hygienist records bleeding and gum measurements, so changes are spotted and compared over time.

  • Advice that fits your mouth

We show you the exact places your brush misses and the right size of interdental brush — not a general leaflet.

07Questions

Questions patients ask

All questions

Most people feel pressure and some scraping rather than pain. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell us and we’ll pause.

A cleaning and exam visit is planned for about an hour.

Twice a year works for many people. Some need more frequent visits — for example with gum disease — and some fewer. Your hygienist will suggest a schedule and explain why.
